Imagine.

Stories told through words have a way of weaving their magic into our imagination slowly, surely. And those narrated through pictures, transcend the barriers of language quickly, effortlessly.

At RoRo Books, we aspire to tell, retell, invent and create visually immersive and evocative stories where art speaks its mind. We believe that picture books have the power to say what words cannot and very often, dare not. It’s why a RoRo book unearths stories hidden within the art. It beckons readers to explore the unexplored and discover all that lies beyond the fold.

The Team

RoRo Books was founded by Veena, whose love for picture books cannot be put into mere words. As a child, she grew up in different cities across India, weaving in and out of the communities around her. These early life influences shaped her appreciation for diverse stories and her commitment to creating space for them. RoRo is her way of documenting different lived experiences through picture books. She hopes her books will cut through the noise of technology and find a place in every home.

Veena Rao

Founder

Veena has worked in human resources for over 20 years. Along the way, she found inspiration from books like Waiting for Mama, Ammachchi’s Glasses, I Will Save My Land, the Mama Moo series, and of course Ivan Bilibin’s Russian Fairy Tales. These works continue to remind her that stories, when told with care, can be both nuanced and unforgettable.

Smit Zaveri

Founding Editor

Smit believes every picture book can open a world of wonder. She has edited The Jungle Radio, Jamlo Walks, Afo and I, We Hope, and Forgetful Dida among other picture books, helping craft stories that linger long after the book is closed. Through her work at RoRo Books, she invites young readers to behold, dream, and connect with the world around them.
